Our research aims to use advanced chemical biology and synthetic biology techniques to solve enzymology questions that are of medicinal and industrial importance. We will provide comprehensive training in various aspects of chemistry and biology. Some of our research projects can be categorized as:
- Designing novel artificial enzymes for the production of biologically active and/or industrially useful compounds
- Elucidating the role of post-translational modifications on enzyme catalysis
- Probing the role of protein dynamics in protein functions
We will provide extensive training of various useful techniques, including molecular cloning, enzyme preparation, peptide synthesis, chemical synthesis, unnatural amino acid incorporation, HPLC, and mass spectrometry, all of which are routinely used in both academic and industrial laboratories. Data obtained from these projects will be published in peer-reviewed, high-impact journals.
